چکیده

Facial soft tissue esthetics is a priority in orthodontic treatment, and emerging of the digital technologies can offer new methods to help orthodontist toward an esthetic outcome. This prospective study aimed assess changes face after six months retention following Rapid Maxillary Expansion (RME). The sample consisted 25 patients (13 females, 12 males, mean age: 11.6 years) who presented with unilateral or bilateral posterior crossbite requiring RME, which was performed Hyrax expander. 3D facial images were obtained before treatment (T0) at end six-month period (T1) using structured-light handheld scanner. Linear angular measurements deviation analyses done for morphological regions face. Significant various areas nasal upper lip observed. Based on results within limitations study, RME expander significant period.

Dimensional changes of upper airway after rapid maxillary expansion: a prospective cone-beam computed tomography study.

INTRODUCTION The aim of this prospective study was to use cone-beam computed tomography to assess the dimensional changes of the upper airway in orthodontic patients with maxillary constriction treated by rapid maxillary expansion. METHODS Fourteen orthodontic patients (mean age, 12.9 years; range, 9.7-16 years) were recruited. The patients with posterior crossbite and constricted maxilla wer...

Facial soft tissue changes after nonsurgical rapid maxillary expansion: a systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The present systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to test the hypothesis that no facial soft tissue changes occur after nonsurgical rapid maxillary expansion (RME), in order to provide a reference for orthodontists. METHODS PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, OVID, MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus, and ScienceDirect databases were electronically and manually searched up to December 2017, ...

Soft tissue profile changes after rapid maxillary expansion with a bonded expander.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the short- and long-term treatment effects of rapid maxillary expansion (RME) on the soft tissue facial profile of subjects treated with a modified acrylic-hyrax device. The sample comprised 10 males and 10 females in the mixed dentition. Their average age was 9.3 years ± 10 months pre-treatment (T1), with a narrow maxilla and posterior crossbite, treated w...

A photogrammetric technique for the analysis of palatal three-dimensional changes during rapid maxillary expansion.

The aim of this study was to assess, by a digital photogrammetric technique, the relative dimensional changes before and after rapid maxillary expansion (RME). The transverse diameters and volumetric variations of the palate were measured by photogrammetry on study casts taken at three different phases of therapy: at the beginning of treatment (T1), on removal of the rapid expander, after expan...
